About PPE

Welcome to Politics, Poetry and Equality (PPE) which does exactly what it says on the tin.

Politics: I am definitely left of centre, how far left I don’t know. Maybe 55 feet? One of the main reasons for starting the blog was that I didn’t like what was happening in politics since the Coalition came to power in the U.K. in 2010. It became a place for me to vent, make some sense of what was happening and hopefully make a few other people think about the issues which I raise.

Poetry: I found that a useful way to express my feelings was through the use of poetry. In truth I have no idea if my “poems” are good or not, I don’t actually know what makes “a good poem”. However, I have enjoyed writing those that you will find on the blog and I hope that this makes the blog a little different to others.

Equality: A lot of my thinking is influenced by the seminal book The Spirit Level, by Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett, which argues that equality is better for everyone in society. I am also influenced by my work with people in poverty in the U.K. leading difficult lives while surrounded by fabulous wealth, I find this to be an unsatisfactory state of affairs.

Nice one mate! I look forward to reading your stuff and getting a bit of inspiration. We definitely need some entertainment and stress relief amongst this madness…go for it!

Reckon you could get your wife to add stuff too? Sounds like you two would be a team to be reckoned with! If she can sort out a sociology dosser maybe she can inspire loads of other such-likes as well!

Keep fighting the good fight dude!

Mate you definitely should! You’ve got one confirmed reader right here. It’s the least I can do, you’re the only person who has signed up for email alerts on my blog who’s not family! Shhhhhhhhh ;o) haha

    Pat. Very impressive stuff.
You make me think, which sadly is something I’m not doing as much as I’d like these days.
You’ve now at least two non-family subscribers to your blog.
    Keep it up!
